If you are like me who loves the taste of German Chocolate cake but doesn't have the time to make one, then you will enjoy this recipe! It's simple, easy, and will more than satisfy your tastebuds.

Ingredients

For the brownies:

  • 15 ounce box chocolate cake mix

  • 1/2 cup oil

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips

For the German Chocolate Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup half and half

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 2 egg yolks

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 3/4 cup shredded sweetened coconut

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

  • Chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x9 baking pan; set aside.

In a large bowl, stir together the cake mix, oil, eggs, and vanilla until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips. (The mixture will be thick).

Press the mixture into the pan and bake for 18-20 minutes. Let cool.

While the brownies bake, in a medium saucepan over low heat, whisk together the half and half, brown sugar, butter, egg yolks, vanilla, and salt. Bring to a low simmer and whisk constantly until thickened, about 8 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in the coconut and pecans. Pour over cooled brownies and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Cool completely before serving. Stores well in the refrigerator.
